Green Tip of the Week:  Healthy Eating

Sweet Potatoes are very healthy and nutritious for your pooch. Serve them raw or cooked, but do not add anything to them. Apples and carrots are also safe, healthy alternatives to store-bought dog biscuits.

Previous Green Tips:

  • Biodegradable poopbags will decompose in 60-90 days compared to regular plastic poopbags that can take up to 10 years to decompose!!
  • Spot of Carpets? Should your furry love leave a little dribble (or more) on the carpeting or floor, don’t reach for the bleach, use vinegar instead. This environment-friendly liquid can act as an effective odor remover and can kill mold and bacteria. Please keep in mind, though, that vinegar must be diluted correctly with water.

Don't flush the cat poo...

It's been discovered that Toxoplasmosis Gondii, the parasite found in most cats (the same parasite that can cause health problems in pregnant women) is making its way to the ocean because of cat feces flushed down toilets or washed down sewage drains.  Exposure to TG in the water is causing serious health issues for Sea Otters and  "Shockingly, TG is to blame for nearly 20% of all sea otter deaths today". If you use flushable kitty litters, although it's convenient to flush when you scoop, please don't!
Think of the sea otters, and bag up the poo the old fashioned way.
